Claude is closing the gap on ChatGPT’s paid consumer base — Credit card transaction data shows Claude’s paying users grew ~75% since January 2026. On DataCamp, “Claude” is now the most searched term on the platform — beating even “AI” itself — and self-directed learners are choosing Claude courses over ChatGPT ones at a 3:1 ratio. ChatGPT still dominates in absolute numbers, but the trend line is hard to ignore. Source

Google’s AI talent exodus accelerates — Gemini lead Noam Shazeer is headed to OpenAI. Nobel laureate John Jumper, along with key Gemini contributors Jonas Adler and Alexander Pritzel, are all joining Anthropic. A SignalFire analysis found DeepMind engineers switch to Anthropic eleven times more often than the reverse. The pull? Both Anthropic and OpenAI are approaching IPOs, making equity packages hard to turn down. Source

Grok is effectively a porn platform now — Two former xAI employees say over half of Grok’s traffic is tied to adult images, videos, or roleplay. In Q1 2026 alone, Grok generated 10 billion images and 2 billion videos. xAI is leaning into territory that OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google won’t touch — though all co-founders have since left the company, and xAI is now renting GPU capacity back to Anthropic. Meta’s AI moderation rollout is too fast, say employees — Meta has already replaced ~half of human moderation requests with LLMs and plans to push that above 90% for some content types by year-end. Insiders warn oversight is thin and the pace is reckless. Quietly, Meta is also swapping out Google Gemini for its own foundation model called Muse Spark. Source

AI chatbots still lean left — even the “anti-woke” ones — A Washington Post investigation found GPT-5.5 gave exclusively left-leaning answers 80% of the time; DeepSeek V4 Pro, 70%. Grok, despite Musk’s “truth-seeking” positioning, wasn’t much different. The only balanced outlier: Gemini 3.1 Pro, which presented both sides 93% of the time. Source

General Intuition raises $320M at a $2.3B valuation — The startup trains AI agents on video game gameplay data and transfers that capability to real-world robots. The secret sauce isn’t the video — it’s the button-press records embedded in each clip. Only 8 minutes of real-world robot data was needed to fine-tune the model for a new physical environment. Backed by Khosla Ventures, Jeff Bezos, and Eric Schmidt. Source

Patronus AI closes $50M Series B — This startup builds simulated “digital worlds” to stress-test AI agents before they go live. Think Waymo’s synthetic training environments, but for software agents instead of self-driving cars. Founded by ex-Meta AI researchers, revenue grew 15x in a year, and virtually every frontier AI lab is a customer now. Source

calesthio/OpenMontage — The first open-source agentic video production system. Describe what you want in plain language and the agent handles research, scripting, asset generation, editing, and final rendering. A 60-second Pixar-style short was produced for $1.33.

interviewstreet/hiring-agent — An AI pipeline that parses resume PDFs, cross-references GitHub activity, and outputs a scored, explainable candidate evaluation. Runs fully local via Ollama or with Google Gemini.

JCodesMore/ai-website-cloner-template — Point it at a URL and an AI agent inspects the site, extracts design tokens, and rebuilds it as a Next.js codebase. Optimized for Claude Code with Opus 4.7.

revfactory/harness — A meta-skill for Claude Code: say “build a harness for this project” and it auto-generates a full agent team architecture with specialized agents and the skills they use. Six team patterns to choose from.

ZhuLinsen/daily_stock_analysis — LLM-powered stock analysis system covering A-share, US, HK, and Japanese markets. Runs on GitHub Actions for zero cost, delivers daily decision dashboards via WeChat, Telegram, Slack, or email.

Echoes of the AI Winter — A sharp piece arguing that the current AI boom is following familiar bubble patterns. Worth reading as a counterweight to the relentless optimism — the hype-to-disappointment cycle may already be underway. (Lobsters)

When AI writes your resume, portfolio, and commits — who are you? — Tom MacWright, via Simon Willison: job applications with LLM-generated resumes linking to LLM-generated portfolio sites with LLM-generated commits tell hiring managers nothing about the actual person. “The perfected, generated resume is generic and impersonal.” A short quote worth sitting with.
